Keynote - "Why the Environmental Movement is not Actually About the Environment"
John Charles Jr. - we are pleased to announce that John Charles will serve as this year's keynote speaker. Since 2005, John has been President and CEO of Cascade Policy Institute, a free-market think tank that promotes individual liberty, economic opportunity, and personal responsibility.
John started working with Cascade Policy Institute in 1997 as their Environmental Policy Director. His research focuses on transportation, land use, free-market environmentalism and growth management.
Prior to Cascade Policy Institute, he served as Executive Director of Oregon Environmental Council from 1980 until 1996. He started his career in 1977 with the Environmental Defense Fund in New York City.
John has a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Public Administration degree from Portland State university.
Panel Presentation 2010
"How Green is My Forest? Forest Products in the Green Building Codes"
This year's presentation panel will discuss the present and future relationship between forest certification programs and building codes. The presenters will also discuss the wide variation in management requirements and current efforts to develop a consensus standard which would provide a simplified management classification system.

You are invited to join us at the 42nd WCLIB Annual Meeting. Please
complete the Meeting Registration Form and submit it to us via fax
(503-684-8928) or email (mschoen@wclib.org)
before April 12th.
The program, lunch and cocktails are free. For planning purposes,
pre-registration is required. WCLIB is charged for all reserved lunches whether
served or not, so please notify us in advance if you are unable to attend.

Travel and Lodging:
Attendees are requested to arrange your own travel. The meeting will
be held at the
RiverPlace Hotel in Portland. The hotel has a block of rooms
reserved for WCLIB attendees. Please review the reservation card for rates and
accommodations.
The
RiverPlace Hotel is a European style hotel with contemporary
qualities, amenities and services that overlooks the RiverPlace marina. It's
conveniently located with easy access to downtown and Tri-Met buses and MAX light
rail. Transportation to and from the airport is available through the hotel.
Note: Submit your completed
reservation card directly to the
hotel prior to March 28th to guarantee a room.

The West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau is a not-for-profit, Oregon-based
service organization founded to benefit consumers and producers
